About JET's Laptop Computers

The James E. Tobin Library provides 6 laptop computers to currently enrolled Molloy University students for in-library use only. All laptops have Microsoft Office, web browsers, Adobe Reader, and a media player. 

An advance reservation is required and is now done through JETfind. The laptops are available for checkout from Patron Services at the Main Circulation desk with a Molloy ID card.

Before you get started:

  • You must be signed in to your JETfind account (@molloy.edu or @lions.molloy.edu)

  • Check library hours before requesting a laptop

  • Laptops can be borrowed for 4 hours maximum in a day.

  • Times are listed in the military format (24 hours)

    • 1pm = 13, 2pm = 14, 3pm = 15, 4pm = 16

    • 5pm = 17, 6pm = 18, 7pm = 19, 8 pm = 20

How to Book a Laptop:

  2. Select a pickup date, start time, and end time then click Send Requestlaptop request date and time options

     
  3. You will see a green notification area that confirms your request was submitted.laptop request submitted screen


     

What happens next: 

  • Your request will be visible in your JETfind account under the request section.
  • If you need to cancel your request, do it there.
  • Emails come from circ@molloy.edu

 

Laptop Computer Policies

Laptop Computer Policies 

  • Laptops can be reserved Monday - Thursday 8am - 9pm, Friday 8am - 7pm,  Saturday 10am- 5pm, and Sunday 12pm - 7pm
  • A valid Molloy ID card must be presented in order to checkout laptops and they may be borrowed for a four-hour time period. 
  • Patrons can only borrow one laptop at a time.
  • Patrons with outstanding fines cannot checkout laptops. Overdue fines for laptops will be $10.00 per hour.
  • Laptops and chargers cannot be taken out of the library.
  • Laptops may only be used for academic purposes. Any work done on these computers cannot be saved, but can be sent to an email account or saved on flash drives. All files are automatically deleted when the computer is turned off. Patrons can not add any personal software or alter any software loaded on the laptop or change its existing configurations.
  • Reservations may be made up to 1 week in advance and are limited to ONE 4-hour time slot per dayIn the event that a patron is late, his or her reservation will be honored for 15 minutes.
  • Laptops should not be left unattended in the library. The library will not be responsible for a lost or stolen laptop. It is the patron’s full responsibility and fiscal liability for all costs associated with damage to the laptop computer or its associated peripheral equipment or its replacement costs should it be lost or stolen.
  • Patrons must return laptops and chargers to the Patron Services/Reserves staff. A laptop may not be left unattended at the Patron Services/Reserves or Circulation desk. Please report any computer hardware or software malfunctions to Patron Reserves staff when the laptop is returned.
  • If patrons experience problems with laptop hardware, applications or have other questions, they should ask for assistance at the Patron Services/Reserves desk. Patrons will be fiscally responsible for any damage to a laptop if they attempt to troubleshoot problems.
