Get to the know the library

Located on the second floor of the Public Square, the Information Commons is a state-of-the-art virtual library facility, there are four study rooms available for student use. A reference librarian and a member of the Help Desk are generally on hand to assist you. Stop by or call them at 516.323.3932.

There is also a media viewing room in the main JET Library. Go to the Book a Study Room page to get started!  

You do not need to make an advance reservation unless you want to ensure guaranteed availability. Reservations are recommended for spring and fall semesters - first come/first served - and are not necessary during intersession or summer.

How to Book a Room:

  1. Click on the Reserve Now button for either the study room or the media viewing room. You'll see any availability highlighted in green.

  2. Choose the day you would like to reserve, then click on the room and time on the grid to begin making your reservation (the desired timeslot will turn from green to yellow while you are in this process).

What Happens Next:

  • A form called Booking Details appears. Read the instructions and select the Continue button to confirm or Cancel to exit.
  • Selecting Continue leads to a form asking for your information. Fill in all the required fields and then click on the Submit my Booking button to complete your request. Note: You must be a current Molloy student and use your Molloy ( email address.

How You Are Notified: 

  • You will receive an e-mail acknowledging your reservation request. Once approved, a second email will be sent to you as confirmation.
  • You can cancel your reservation by clicking on a link within the email. Replies are sent to

Study Rooms

Study Rooms in the Information CommonsStudy Rooms 273, 275, 277, 279

Location: 4 rooms available in The Information Commons, 2nd floor of the Public Square Bldg.

Capacity: Each room seats a maximum of six.


Equipment:Touch-screen computer with internet access, whiteboard. Students may borrow a wireless keyboard and mouse to use with these computers, as well as dry-erase markers and laptops.

Room Policies for Study Rooms in the Information Commons

Study rooms are open whenever the Public Square building is open.

A valid Molloy ID card is required to borrow these items. Laptops may also be borrowed for a two-hour time period when IT staff are available. Both a driver's license (or equivalent) and a valid Molloy ID card are required to borrow laptops.  

During spring and fall semesters the rooms can be (and should be) reserved Monday - Thursday 11am-5pm.  At all other times, study rooms are first-come, first-served.

Reservations may be made up to 1 week in advance and are limited to ONE 2-hour time slot per group per day

Reservations may NOT be made for these three rooms for Tutoring Services (formerly ACE) tutoring sessions (Tutoring Services tutors, please see Kimberly for more information.)

In the event that a student is late, his or her reservation will be honored for 15 minutes.

Media Viewing Room

Media Viewing Room

Location: First floor of the JET Library, behind the Rochelle Sager Media Center.

Capacity: Six to ten participants.


Equipment: Desktop computer (internet, network, webcam, DVD player), flat screen monitor, and a whiteboard.

Room Policies for Media Viewing Room

Intended for media viewing purposes for larger groups only (6 or more), the room is not available as a study or conference space. As a first step, students should retrieve the viewing material from patron services. To ensure this process will not cut into your reserved time slot, it is highly recommended you arrive early to retrieve your media material(s).

Please see a Patron Services staff member when arriving for your reservation to gain access to the room.

Reservations need to be made at least one day in advance and are limited to two-hour time slots. Each group is allowed one reservation per day. No food or drink is allowed in this room. 

During spring, fall and summer semesters the room can be reserved Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. within two-hour time slots.
