Study Rooms

Study Rooms in the Information Commons

Location: The Information Commons, 2nd floor of the Public Square Building on the Rockville Centre Campus at 1000 Hempstead Avenue, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

Capacity: The maximum occupancy of Room 271 is 8 persons. The maximum occupancy of Rooms 273, 275, and 277 is 6 persons.

Equipment: Touch-screen computer with internet access, whiteboard.

Study Room Policies

  • Study Rooms:

    • Are open whenever the Public Square Building is open.

    • Close briefly at approximately 10pm for cleaning.

  • Groups:

    • A group is anyone reserving and using the room.

    • Can be 1 person or up to the room's maximum (6 or 8 depending on the room).

  • Reservations:

    • Required Monday-Thursday, 11am-5pm.

    • Can be made up to 2 days in advance. Example: On Monday, you can make a reservation for Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

    • The full names (first and last name) of all group members must be included when making a reservation.

    • Reservations can be made for a maximum of 2 hours.

    • A group can make 1 reservation per day. Members of a group may not make separate reservations on the same day.

    • A group can make 3 reservations per week.

    • Reservations are canceled if a group doesn't arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time.

    • Please make reservations in advance, if possible. Reservations must be made at least 1 hour in advance of the start time. If you wish to use an available study room less than an hour before the desired start time, go to the Information Commons Desk.

  • Check-in Procedure:

    • Everyone using a study room during reservation hours must check in at the Information Commons Desk before entering the study room.

    • If you do not have a reservation and think a room might be available, you must still check in at the Information Commons Desk.

    • You will receive a token as proof of your reservation and then you may enter the room.

  • Equipment:

    • A wireless keyboard and mouse and dry-erase markers may be borrowed at the Information Commons Desk. A valid Molloy ID card is required to borrow these items.

    • Laptops may also be borrowed for a 2-hour time period when IT staff are available. Both a driver's license (or equivalent) and a valid Molloy ID card are required to borrow a laptop.

  • Check-out Procedure:

    • At the end of your reservation time, please exit the room and return all study room tokens and any equipment borrowed to the Information Commons Desk.

  • Terms & Conditions

    • The maximum occupancy of Room 271 is 8 persons. The maximum occupancy of Rooms 273, 275, and 277 is 6 persons.

    • All group members must be current Molloy students.

    • Study rooms are to be used for academic purposes only.

    • Food is not permitted in the study rooms.

    • Noise should be kept to a level respectful of your neighbors in the other study rooms.

    • Study rooms cannot be reserved for Tutoring Services sessions. (Tutors: please talk to Kimberly Havens for more information about possible tutoring spaces.)

    • All members of the group must check in at the Information Commons Desk at the beginning of the reservation.

    • All study room tokens and any equipment borrowed must be returned to the Information Commons Desk when the reservation has ended so the next group can check in and be admitted.

    • If you no longer need a study room, please cancel your reservation at least 2 hours in advance by clicking on the Cancel This Booking link in the e-mail you received so that another group can reserve the room.

    • If a group violates any of these terms, they may be asked to leave before their reservation has ended.

Reservation policies are in effect Monday-Thursday, 11AM-5PM, during the Fall and Spring semesters. At all other times, study rooms may be used on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to Reserve a Study Room

1. Click on the Reserve Now button below or at molloy.libcal.com.

2. Select a day, up to two days in advance. (Remember that rooms can only be reserved Monday through Thursday during the Fall and Spring semesters.)

3. Available times are highlighted in blue. 

4. Select a start time. It will change from blue to yellow.

5. Select an end time (reservations can be one or two hours long).

6. Click on the Submit Times button.

7. Read the terms and conditions that apply to using the study rooms. By clicking on the Continue button, you indicate that you agree to the terms. If you do not agree, you cannot continue with the reservation.

8. Fill out the booking form.

9. Enter your Molloy e-mail address ending in @lions.molloy.edu in the e-mail field.

10. Include the full names (first and last name) of all group members in the appropriate field.

11. Click on the Submit my Booking button.

12. Your request has been sent and you will see a screen confirming your request.

13. You will receive an e-mail from alerts@mail.libcal.com acknowledging your reservation request.

14. If your request has been approved, a second e-mail from the same address will be sent to you, confirming your reservation and providing instructions.

15. If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, you can do so by clicking on the Cancel This Booking link in the e-mail.

16. When you arrive in the Information Commons for your reservation, go to the Information Commons Desk to check in before entering the study room.
