Our office provides professional development courses designed to help faculty to design quality hybrid and online courses for their students. Ranging from one to two weeks, these courses are offered in the online asynchronous modality to maximize flexibility and convenience for the schedule expectations of our faculty. ACE is a fully online, 1-week faculty development course focusing on best practices in developing accelerated courses. This course will cover setting course expectations, active learning strategies, aligned assessments, and ongoing resources.
ATLC is a fully online 2-week faculty development course focusing on continued best practices of hybrid and online teaching and learning. Advanced TLC continues where TLC ends. This online course is delivered in modules and through a sandbox (practice course) in Canvas. Be prepared to commit 12-14 hours per week to complete this course.
LfA is a fully online 1-week faculty development course based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL is a framework for learning designed to improve and optimize teaching methods and provide equal access for all students by reducing barriers. The goal of this course is to provide an understanding of UDL and how it can be incorporated into the design of web-enhanced, hybrid and online courses. Be prepared to complete 12-14 hours of online work for this course.
We invite Division Council and faculty to participate in RCDQM, a 2-week online asynchronous course. Quality Matters (QM) is a continuous improvement model for assuring the quality of hybrid and online courses. This course includes an introduction to Quality Matters, a detailed review of the QM Standards, and guidance on how to apply the QM Rubric. You will receive an email invitation to the Canvas course before it begins. Be prepared to complete 12-14 hours of online work for this course.
TLC is a fully online, 2-week faculty development course focusing on best practices of hybrid and online teaching and learning. This intense course will cover the hybrid/online mindset shift, framing and designing a hybrid/online course, active learning strategies, aligned assessments, and ongoing resources. Be prepared to complete 12-14 hours of online work each week of the course.
