You can use the box below to proxy any Library resource. If you have any questions, please contact Marianna Czeisel, Electronic Resources Librarian.
Do not use this proxy prefix for Open Access materials that reside outside of a database or library resources from a different institution.
While it is possible to use the "screen-share" feature in Zoom (or other video-conferencing platforms) for "in-classroom screenings" of streaming media, is not recommended by the Library. It will likely result in poor audio and video quality for students viewing the material and could stress internet connections. Additionally, some streaming platforms apply copyright protection to their content which prevents any images or sound being shared using the "screen-share" feature.
Ideally, a permalink to the streaming media would be shared and the students could watch the video prior to the start of class discussion, so that they may view it on their own time without having to worry about quality or computer/internet limitations. For synchronous "in-classroom screenings" the recommended procedure is to direct students to view materials on their own, in a separate tab or window, with their Zoom audio muted, and then return to the main meeting for the continuation of class.
Each platform is slightly different but the process is the same. Copy the link or embed code and then paste it into Canvas. In some cases, the link isn't set up properly for off-campus users, the fix for this has been noted in the directions below.
If you need assistance, please contact Marianna Czeisel, Electronic Resources Librarian.
Go to the video, click the share icon and you will get three options on the bottom of the screen. The first option, via permalink, is what you are looking for - click Copy. This link will work on-campus and off-campus.
This can be done from the video or from the Films on Demand main menu. Click on the Share icon. This will bring up a pop-up box.
Click on "Embed/Link" tab and then click on Copy to get the Record URL. This link will work on-campus and off-campus.
Go to the audio, click the "paperclip" icon to get the link.
Note: The paperclip icon is currently supplying the old links - you can also copy the URL in the address bar.
A link will appear beneath the title - copy the entire link.
This will not work for off-campus users, you will need to add the library's ezproxy prefix https://login.molloy.idm.oclc.org/login?url= to the URL. The video above would be:
https://login.molloy.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://Molloy.NaxosMusicLibrary.com/catalogue/item.asp?cid=886448140580
Go to the video, copy the entire URL in the address bar.
