The DiRT Directory was a compilation of different DH tools that could be searched by scholarly use. The project itself was discontinued and absorbed into Project Bamboo in 2009, which was in turn discontinued in 2012. Some of the links live on in this Wiki housed by PB Works.

CATMA (Computer Assisted Text Markup and Analysis) is a practical and intuitive tool for text researchers. WordItOut is a simple tool for creating word clouds, which visualize the top frequency words of a corpus. Users can generate word clouds from sentences, whole documents, or tables, and filter the text to configure which words to display or remove.
