What is Digital Humanities & New Media?

Digital Humanities can be understood both as a field in its own right and as a way of identifying digital research and project development efforts in specific humanities fields. More broadly, it also refers to any digital activity that furthers research in the humanities, or assists in the scholarly activities of its practitioners. Some of these activities may operate outside of any particular humanities field: for example, digital publishing or digital libraries. - Flanders & Mylonas. "Digital Humanities," Encyclopedia of Library and Information Sciences (3 ed.)

New Media refers to "those digital media that are interactive, incorporate two-way communication and involve some form of computer." New media is "very easily processed, stored, transformed, retrieved, hyperlinked, and perhaps most radical of all, easily searched for and accessed." - Robert Logan. Understanding New Media. (2 ed.)
