Introduction to Open Access

Have you heard the term Open Access (OA) but aren't sure what that means? Or seen a resource labeled as OA but don't know how to use it? Join us in this session to learn about Open Access including common terms & definitions, what falls under the OA umbrella, and how you can start using (or sharing) OA content today. If you're brand new to the world of Open Access then this is a great place to start especially if you're interested in the other sessions this week.


 

OER for Beginners

Textbook costs have risen at 3 times the rate of inflation, creating a large barrier to success for many students. Join us as we discuss open educational resources, Ebook Central, coursepacks, and other ways to help create a more affordable semester for all our students.

 

Green Open Access

Tuesday 10/22 from 3:30pm-4:30pm

Open Access (OA) publishing has a variety of levels but most require Article Processing Charges (APC) to make research Open. However, there is another option with non-Open Access (traditionally) published works! This session will cover Green OA, also known as "self archiving." It'll review publisher resources to better understand author self-archiving and highlight real-world examples in the DigitalCommons@Molloy.

 

From the Archives: Accessing Digitized Yearbooks

Wednesday 10/23 from 12pm-1pm 

Brianna Paoli, Archives & Special Collections Librarian

This event will discuss how to access and explore Molloy’s digitized yearbooks on DigitalCommons, as well as other digitized material available through DigitialCommons. An introduction to Molloy’s archival collection will also be provided along with suggestions on how to discover the Archives online and through social media.

 

Leganto Reserves+

Thursday 10/24 from 10am-10:45am

Leganto Reserves+ is a powerful new course list management tool in Canvas that directly connects resources of any type (books, media, articles, websites and more) into your course shell. As an added bonus it can drastically increase your accessibility score! In this session, learn how faculty can quickly create course lists, including automagically connecting to resources in the library.
