  • Login information is the same as your Canvas username and password.
  • If you can login to Canvas, you should be able to login to the library resources.
  • Check for typos in your password.
  • If you need to reset your password, visit the self-service center.

2.  I logged into EZproxy and my browser is displaying a blank screen.

This is most likely due to your browser settings.  Please check the following:

  • Pop-up blocker--Disable pop-up blockers
  • Cookies--Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies.
  • JavaScript--Make sure JavaScript is enabled.

3.  What does it mean when I log in and get an error message that the source isn't recognized by the proxy?

libary access error for url

Three reasons why this would happen:

  1. This often occurs because our EZproxy prefix was put in front a resource that doesn't require it - like an open-access article or a resource from another library (ex. A professor using the Molloy ezproxy to link to a resource they have access to from a different insitution).
  2. This could also happen when a database switched from http to https and the link hasn't been updated in A-Z Databases to reflect that change.
  3. It could also be caused by a domain name change for the resource that the library might not be aware of, such as the switch from apastylecentral.com to academicwriter.com

You should click submit and follow the directions in order to report the issue. This report is anonymous unless you include your information.

4. What does the following message mean: "Connection refused by hostname, please try again later"?

For any of the following reasons EZproxy is unable to connect to the resource:

  • The resource is temporarily unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again or try on a different web browser.
  • Your web browser is blocked (ie, firewall issue). Adjust your firewall settings or contact your Internet provider.

If you receive this error message while trying to access this resource from off-campus please make sure you have logged into library resources (ezproxy) from the library's website
before accessing this resource. The error message might not say "No subscription." Instead, the website will ask you to purchase the articles. Examples below.

wiley purchase options     taylor francis purchase options     sage purchase options

When in doubt, always go to the library's website first then select your database, journal, or other electronic resource. You can even use the Google Scholar link in A-Z Databases. Keep in mind that the library does not have a subscription to every electronic resource. When there is no subscription available, utilize Interlibrary Loan.

404 error

This 404 error message indicates that the specific webpage was not found on the website. It could mean the platform’s server is down or there could be another issue. A few simple steps might assist:

  • Reload the page: It might be that the error 404 has appeared for the simple reason that the page did not load properly. This can be checked quite easily by clicking on the ‘Refresh’ button in your browser.
  • Check the URL: Regardless of whether you have entered the URL address manually or been directed via a link, it could be that a mistake has been made. You should check the specified path of the website. It could be that either you, or the person who entered the link, has mistyped something.
  • Use the website’s search function: Many websites offer a search function as part of their homepage. By entering one or several keywords, it can help you find the specific page that you are looking for.
  • Delete the browser cache and cookies: If you can access the website from another device, and the HTTP 404 error only seems to appear on a certain computer, then the problem could lie with your browser. You should Clear the Cache.
