Amid extreme political rhetoric on immigration and refugee policies, it's crucial to recognize that immigrants and refugees are integral to the Molloy community and the surrounding area. Many of our staff, faculty, students, and their families were born outside the United States and have immigrated or sought asylum here. Approximately 20% of Long Island's population is made up of immigrants.

Their diverse experiences and contributions cannot be fully captured in a single day or through limited resources. Research consistently shows that immigrants bolster our regional economy. However, despite their significant achievements, many immigrants and refugees continue to face stereotypes, bias, discrimination, and even hate crimes. Historically, they have encountered significant obstacles, including punitive policies and structural barriers in employment, housing, healthcare, education, and the criminal justice system.
