Donation Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in donating to the JET library. Below is some information about our gift policies. Feel free to email us if you have any other questions.

Gifts

Donations of books for the collection may be added if they support the curriculum. Gifts are accepted with the understanding that upon receipt, the library acquires ownership and may use the materials at their discretion. Items added to the collection should be in generally good shape, i.e., no stains, mildew, missing pages, or writing in them. Magazines are not accepted. The library does not evaluate gifts for tax purposes in accordance with IRS regulations.

Subjects Collected

Materials are selected to support the academic priorities of the university. Central to this is Molloy's intention to provide programs which are "based on a strong liberal arts core curriculum, [and] offer wide choices in professional and career preparation" (Molloy University, 2011, p. 10). The University's academic programs offer an array of divergent programs that "reflect the University's commitment to tradition and its openness to creative innovation" (Molloy University, 2011, p. 9). The library assists with this goal by collecting materials which reflect diverse viewpoints and cultures.

Formats Collected

Information sources are amassed with the intent of creating a complete collection that supports Molloy’s curriculum. The library will collect materials in most formats, though emphasis is on 24x7 access from both on and off campus. To that end, the library will emphasize electronic resources including databases and electronic books. Other areas of growth include audiovisual materials, streaming media and monographic materials when electronic formats are unavailable.
